Do What You Want

By Sifu John Cho

We offer the Chinese Stick Fighting Program as a project that you may or may not want to get involved in. The degree of involvement is entirely your choice. Over the last few years in casual conversations, I tell others to do what is right for them. The obvious reasoning is that the path for one individual is not necessarily the correct route or direction for another person. So approach the Chinese Stick Fighting Program with the frame of mind of what is most suitable or appropriate for yourself. As mentioned earlier, my main reason for creating, developing, and refining the Chinese Stick Fighting Program is as my contribution back to Chinese martial arts, which has been a major component of my life.

Here are some scenarios of involvement:

  1. Just look at the website and do nothing.
  2. Look at the website, follow the instructions, practice on your own or with a partner.
  3. Look at the website, decide what you like and dislike, modify to fit your own training or background.
  4. Learn the foundation material and study the set/form associated with each of the sticks. The sets will be available at a cost online.
  5. Contact Vien Ngo about regular personal instruction on the Chinese Stick Fighting Program if you live in the Fresno/Clovis area.
  6. Contact Vien Ngo about scheduling a 2-hour seminar at a martial arts school. The participation fees will be divided equally between the martial arts school and the Chinese Stick Fighting Program presenters.
